Looking at time travel brings up the subject of light and light speed, so looking at the speed of light through my research brought me to an article that shows a Danish Scientist, Lene Hau, slowing down the speed of light from 186,282mps to just 38mph.
I also watched this video describing and showing how she achieved this.

Self initiated.
Over the Summer we were asked to look into our interests and return in september with research and ideas for the first 3rd year brief. This is to come up with our own idea and turn it into a brief with parameters and tasks.
Looking at what I was interested in was difficult at first as I wasn't really sure where to start, i have lots of areas of interest but also many of these are hobbies which is really what we are looking at. I eventually decided upon the area of Time. Time travel, time dilation and the theories from now and early theories put forward.
The task now, create a good brief and more Research!

My own studio.
While working on this latest project I decided to set up a make shift stop motion area at home. This was good as I felt more relaxed in my own home although it has left a bit of a mess which is yet to be cleaned up.

Chromasia.
Chromasia is photo-blog that is comprised of two companies; Chromasia limited and Chromasia Training Limited, both of which are run by David and Libby Nightingale.
Their work is based mainly in and around Blackpool but has been exhibited in places like Florence in Italy and have won awards for their work.
I have known about their work for a number of years now and thought it was worth posting.
The photos are all really well taken and edited to give a great final piece, there isn't really anything I don't like about this site.http://www.chromasia.com/galleries/

Olympic Logo.
As far as logos go I think that this one is poor and for such an important event.
It doesn't represent the Olympics or London in a good way or any way.
The project I am doing is for some Olympic events and I think I'm just going to use the original hoops logo.

Portfolio visit.
I messaged Daniel Hawthorne, a member of Source Creative, asking him if it would be possible to have a visit to show him some of my work and got a very quick response from him. We arranged to meet up on the Friday in Manchester for an informal meet in Piccadilly Gardens. I showed him a piece that I had done last year with Sarah Brewster, A Soft Touch, I explained to him the story behind the piece and how we had decided on how it was going to look and be made. The response was quite good, he liked how the pattern growing from the bottle had been made to look like it was shimmering and said it worked well to represent parts of the story. The next thing I showed was my Penguin NatGeo ident. Again he enjoyed the idea and not having worked with Maya or 3D he was interested in how it was made, I explained about how long and how much information was put into the animation. It wasn't completed when I showed him and I had to mention that I was going to try and finish it as much as I could before next Thursdays deadline.
Dan made the meeting very easy and relaxed, we got on very well and had a good laugh during the meet.
I found this a very successful visit and have taken in what he said for future reference in my work and in the working environment.
